Choua Thao was one of the few Hmong girls to receive an education in Vientiane.  She went on to become a nurse and worked with “Pop” Buell, the legendary American doctor in Xieng Khuang Province. Later, she worked for the IVS (International Volunteer Service.)

Choua came to the US in April, 1976 where she worked for the Welfare and Public Health Office in California.  She now lives in St Paul, MN, working with non-profit organizations for the Hmong.
